EF-0 Tornado landed at Covington/Abita Springs on Monday | TV Network

Covington, Louisiana — The National Weather Service confirmed on Tuesday that a confirmed tornado had occurred on the North Shore after a series of warnings were issued on Monday afternoon.

The maximum wind speed of the EF-0 tornado is estimated to be 75 miles per hour, and it landed near Highway 190 and Hollycrest Blvd. In Covington.

There was some damage to the Hollycrest Plaza shopping center, and part of the outer wall of the building complex collapsed.

The National Weather Service also reported that the roof was slightly damaged and the parking lot fence was blown down.

The tornado moved eastward, and some sporadic tree damage was found along 5th Avenue, Soell Drive and Mire Drive.
