Doodles cover every single wall, floor, ceiling and object.

Artist Sam Cox, known as Mr Doodle, has unveiled his one-of-a-kind Doodle House, where every inch of his six-bedroom home in the town of Tenterden, Kent has been decorated with doodles.

In this extraordinary project that has taken two years to complete, Sam used 900 litres of white emulsion paint, 401 cans of black spray paint, 286 bottles of drawing paint and 2,296 pen nibs to achieve his childhood dream. This 'living artwork' is what he calls 'paradise'.

Sam has used his signature monochrome, cartoonish-style doodles on every wall, floor, ceiling and object. Doodle decor adorns bedding, the stove, kettle, toaster, microwave, kitchen cabinets, bath tub, door knobs, chairs, the dining table, windows, door frames, chandeliers, the fireplace surround, the chimney, and much more. No surface has been left untouched. Even the sofa is doodled – and it's been lacquered for protection too.

However, it might be hard to actually spot the toaster in the kitchen or any available plug sockets because everything, quite literally, blends into one. Even Sam admits uncertainty over using the stove, telling BBC News: 'I'm not actually sure if any of this is workable after we've painted and doodled on it.'

Sam used acrylic black paint and four different sized pens to doodle the inside of the house, and used spray paint for his cartoonish doodles on the exterior.

The 12-room neo-Georgian mansion was built in 1974. The previous owners, in their mid-70s, had gold wallpaper in the living room, but when they sold it to Sam for £1.35 million in 2019, they had just one request. 'They told me whatever you do, please don't doodle. I didn't listen,' Sam told The Sunday Times.

Sam began work on his passion project in September 2020, starting in the main bedroom which took two weeks to complete. Every room is themed — dreams for the bedroom, Noah's Ark for the hallway, heaven and hell for the staircase, Adam & Eve on the landing, and ocean for the bathroom.

The en-suite bathroom was a mammoth task in itself. There are a staggering 2,000 tiles, all of which were doodled with the sea theme, which took two months to complete.

In a new video tour, Sam said he had the best time of his life creating the house, where he showcased the cloud room, computer room, splash room, and memory room filled with family photos.

The 28-year-old, who studied illustration at the University of the West of England, Bristol, was the fifth most successful artist at auction under 40 years old in 2020, after an original doodle piece sold for just under $1 million (£888,775).

On Instagram he goes by the handle @mrdoodle, and his wife, Alena, who is also an artist, is @mrsdoodle. Sam's stop-motion video on YouTube detailing the process of doodling his entire Kent home has gone viral.

Sam notes his main inspiration for doodling stems from childhood cartoons, Tom and Jerry, Wacky Races and SpongeBob SquarePants, and video games like Crash Bandicoot.

So, having unveiled this labour of love, what's next for Mr Doodle? Well, he's already doodled his wife's Tesla, and he plans to 'doodle over the entire world', but for now, Sam, Alena and their dog plan to make this Doodle House their permanent home.
